Invitation to Parker’s Piece for Street Child Cricket World Cup, Music and Arts Event for FREE this weekend, Saturday 4^th May & Sunday 5^th May 2019

Our HistoryWorks singing event with Michael Rosen and the primary and secondary school Cambridge choirs raised money for Street Child United to provide welfare and education at special centres. We are very pleased that we now have the opportunity to welcome some of these young people to Cambridge this weekend when there is a festival of sports, music, arts this weekend! 

On Saturday 4^th & Sunday 5^th May we are hosting 8 teams of street children for activities on Parker’s Piece and everyone is invited to join in.  There is a fenced area to keep families safe, and raised seats for those who want to watch the cricket matches.  Please support our primary and secondary choir singers who will perform alongside choirs from Parkside and Coleridge for the opening ceremony where we’ll gather from 11am/11.15am - to be ready to perform at 11.30am “I am Somebody” - our anthem song:

I hope you can come and support the inaugural Street Child Cricket World Cup taking place on Parker's Piece, and you can drop in at any time between 11am and 5pm on both days.  The Opening Ceremony will be amplified at 11.30am on Saturday 4^th May for our choir singers.  On Sat & Sun there will be coaching areas for sports, and marquees for music, arts and crafts, and popup food trucks.  It is aimed at being a fun day for the family, and girls and boys of all ages will be encouraged to participate in cricket skills games run by Northamptonshire County Cricket Club, arts activities, live music and there will be the chance to face deliveries from former England spinner and Ashes bowler Monty Panesar on the Sunday, 5^th May.

Also, Historyworks has produced an album of recordings from our charity fundraising concert with Michael Rosen last term, which featured the St Matthew’s Primary School Choirs, and the CAP singers from Parkside, Trumpington and Coleridge Community Colleges.
